Looks can be deceiving. This watch, at 46 mm, is big and is one of the reasons why IWC decided to resize the 2013 incarnation of the Ingenieur to just 42 mm. You need a sensibly sized wrist to be able to carry this watch.
It is a comfortable watch despite it size and weight. The ability of the dial to magically change colour from black to blue (and back) in certain lighting conditions and viewing angle always amazes me.
As the overall design accentuates the angles (courtesy of the legendary Gerald Genta) yet minimises the sharp angles, it can be used with formal wear without the fear of it snagging on cuffs. Coupled with its sports and engineering pedigree, this ability makes it a very versatile watch.
