Richard Mille RM053 – a funky piece

While trolling the web for fun, I happen to stumble on this watch by Richard Mille, the RM053 Pablo Mac Donough, a limited edition piece launched back in 2012. The face features a dial that is split in two parts which are aligned at the angle of 30 degrees. The one on the right shows hours and minutes, whereas the left one displays the tourbillon and seconds (for completeness, the tourbillon is a manual winding units, tilted 30 degress with a 48 hour power reserve).

Why have it at such an angle? This is so polo players can see the time while holding on to the rein of their horses without the need to tilt the watch hand for a better angle on the dial.

I like the robot like shape of the case. Very similar to Azimuth’s Mr Roboto (but way more expensive!). The back end of the watch is also a beauty.
